Terms of Service

Last updated 2 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Mirrage ("we", "us") for using the Mirrage iPhone app, Mirrage Setup and the website at mirrage.app (together, "Mirrage"). We've tried to keep them readable. Please read section 8 in particular, because changing your location comes with real responsibilities.

1. Agreeing to these terms

By buying a subscription, activating a licence or using Mirrage, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Mirrage.

You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, and able to enter into a binding contract. These terms are for personal use. If you're using Mirrage for a business (for example, testing your own apps), you confirm you have authority to accept these terms on its behalf.

2. What Mirrage is

Mirrage lets you set the location your iPhone reports to apps, either to a fixed place or along a simulated journey. It does this using the location simulation feature Apple provides for app developers, through iOS Developer Mode. It does not jailbreak or permanently change your iPhone. Stopping Mirrage, or restarting your iPhone, returns it to its real location.

3. What you need

  • A supported iPhone running iOS 17 or later.
  • A Mac, Windows or Linux computer and a cable, for the one-time setup.
  • An Apple ID, which you use to install Mirrage on your iPhone.
  • The free LocalDevVPN app from the App Store, which Mirrage uses to connect to your iPhone.
  • An internet connection to activate and periodically check your licence.

Apps installed with a free Apple ID must be signed again every 7 days. Mirrage can do this for you on the iPhone, but it needs your Apple ID, LocalDevVPN and an internet connection to do so. If the 7 days run out, you may need to run Mirrage Setup on a computer again. Please check these requirements before buying; see section 6 if Mirrage doesn't work on your iPhone.

4. Subscriptions and payment

  • Mirrage is sold as a monthly or yearly subscription. The current prices are shown on our pricing page and at checkout, and include any VAT or sales tax that applies.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorise us, through Stripe, to charge your payment method at the start of each billing period.
  • Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, at the then-current price, until you cancel.
  • Each subscription includes one licence key, which can be active on the number of iPhones shown at purchase (one, unless stated otherwise).
  • If we change the price, we'll tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies to you. The new price starts from your next renewal after that, and you can cancel before then.
  • If a payment fails, Stripe will retry it. If it still can't be collected, your licence stops working until the payment is made.
  • Switching between monthly and yearly is done through the billing portal, and any proration is shown before you confirm.

5. Cancelling

You can cancel at any time from your account page or in the app under Settings → Account → Manage subscription. Your subscription won't renew, and Mirrage keeps working until the end of the period you've already paid for. Cancelling doesn't give a refund for the rest of that period, except as described in section 6.

6. Refunds and your right to cancel

Your legal right to cancel

If you're a consumer in the UK or EU, you normally have 14 days to cancel a digital service. Because Mirrage gives you access straight away, at checkout you ask us to start the service immediately. Once you activate your licence, you acknowledge that you lose the statutory right to cancel for that payment. If you cancel within 14 days before activating, we'll refund you in full.

Our promise

On top of that: if Mirrage doesn't work on your iPhone and we can't fix it, email us within 14 days of your first payment and we'll refund that payment in full.

Everything else

Otherwise, payments are not refundable, including for partly used periods, and renewals you forgot to cancel. That said, if something has gone wrong, talk to us. We look at every request and we're reasonable. Nothing in this section affects your legal rights if Mirrage is faulty or not as described.

Refunds go back to your original payment method through Stripe and usually arrive within 5 to 10 working days. To ask for one, email support@mirrage.app with your licence key or the email you bought with.

7. Your licence

While your subscription is active, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Mirrage on the number of iPhones your plan allows. You agree not to:

  • share, publish, sell or give away your licence key, or let other people use it;
  • get around, disable or tamper with the licence checks or device limits;
  • resell Mirrage or offer it as part of a paid service to others without our written agreement;
  • use Mirrage to attack, overload or interfere with our servers or anyone else's.

You can move your licence to a new iPhone at any time by removing the old one on your account page or in the app.

8. Using Mirrage responsibly

Changing the location your phone reports can affect other people and other services. You are responsible for how you use Mirrage. You must not use it to:

  • break any law, or help anyone else to;
  • commit fraud, or mislead anyone into handing over money, goods or services;
  • deceive an employer, school, court, probation or parole service, insurer or any authority about where you are, including to get around electronic monitoring, curfews or check-in requirements;
  • stalk, harass, threaten or harm anyone, or hide your location from someone in order to do so;
  • get around geographic restrictions, licensing or rights in a way that is against the law or the terms of the service involved;
  • interfere with emergency services, or make a false report to them.

Other apps' rules

Many apps and games, including dating apps, delivery and ride-sharing apps, fitness challenges and location-based games, forbid location spoofing in their own terms. If you use Mirrage with them, they may suspend or ban your account. That's between you and them, and we're not responsible for it.

Your safety

While Mirrage is active, apps on your iPhone (including Maps, Find My and location sharing) see the simulated location, not your real one. Stop Mirrage before relying on your location, for example when navigating, sharing your location with someone for safety, or in an emergency. Never use a simulated journey to plan or follow a real one while driving.

9. Apple and other services

Mirrage is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Apple Inc. iPhone, iOS, Apple ID and App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc.

Mirrage relies on things we don't control: iOS and its developer features, your Apple ID and Apple's developer services, LocalDevVPN, Apple Maps, OpenStreetMap data and an anisette server used for Apple sign-in. Your use of your Apple ID is also covered by Apple's own terms. Using Developer Mode and installing apps with your own Apple ID is something you choose to do, and you're responsible for keeping your Apple ID secure.

If Apple or another provider changes how those services work, Mirrage may stop working until we can update it, and occasionally we may not be able to. See section 10.

10. Updates and availability

We work to keep Mirrage working with each new version of iOS, but we can't promise it will work on every iPhone, every iOS version, or without interruption. We may update, change or remove features to keep Mirrage working, secure or legal.

If a change we make, or a change by Apple, means Mirrage stops working for you for more than 14 days in a row and we can't fix it, you can ask us for a refund of the unused part of your current period. If we ever decide to stop offering Mirrage, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice and refund any period you've paid for but won't be able to use.

11. Disclaimers

Apart from what we've promised in these terms and your rights under the law, Mirrage is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we don't make any other promises, for example that it will be error-free, that simulated locations or speed limits will be accurate, or that any particular app will accept a simulated location.

If you're a consumer in the UK or EU, you have legal rights that these terms can't take away, including the right to digital content and services that are as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality, and supplied with reasonable care and skill. Citizens Advice can tell you more.

12. Our liability to you

  • Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.
  • We're not responsible for losses that weren't foreseeable, for losses caused by your breaking these terms or misusing Mirrage, for action taken against you by other apps or services because you used a simulated location, or for business losses (Mirrage is for personal use).
  • Otherwise, our total liability to you for anything relating to Mirrage is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
  • If damage to your device or content is caused by faulty digital content we supplied, we'll either repair the damage or compensate you, as the law requires.

13. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or cancel your licence if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, especially section 7 or 8, or if we have to by law. Where it's reasonable, we'll warn you first and give you a chance to put things right. If we cancel for a reason that isn't your fault, we'll refund any period you've paid for but can't use.

You can stop using Mirrage at any time by cancelling your subscription and deleting the app. Sections that by their nature should continue after the agreement ends (such as 12 and 15) will do so.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example to reflect changes to Mirrage or the law. We'll update the date at the top, and for significant changes we'll tell you by email or in the app at least 30 days in advance. If you don't agree, you can cancel before the changes apply to you. Continuing to use Mirrage after that means you accept the new terms.

15. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts there can deal with any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings there. If you live in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country you live in, and can bring proceedings there.

Please contact us first if something's wrong. Most problems can be sorted out quickly by email.

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our agreement. We may transfer ours to another organisation if it won't reduce your rights. These terms, with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us about Mirrage.
